Soccer Game Preview: Smiths Station vs. Pike Road

The Smiths Station Panthers are taking a road trip to take on the Pike Road Patriots at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Pike Road will be up against a hot Smiths Station team: the squad just extended their winning streak to five. Smiths Station put the hurt on Carroll with a sharp 6-1 win on Saturday. It was an even better day for Haley Ciccarello as she scored four goals for her team.

Meanwhile, Pike Road kept a clean sheet against Stanhope Elmore on Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 7-0 margin over the Mustangs. While the Patriots didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-11), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

The victory made it two in a row for Pike Road and bumps their season record up to 7-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those two contests. As for Smiths Station, their win bumped their record up to 9-2.

Smiths Station skirted past Pike Road 1-0 in their previous matchup back in March of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Smiths Station since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
