Basketball Recap: Alhambra Comes Up Short

Alhambra played a tough matchup on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by the McClintock Chargers and fell 82-18. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 280th, while the Chargers are ranked 68th).

Ixchel Aleman Saldivar was Alhambra's leading scorer, having posted six points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead McClintock to victory, but perhaps none more so than Anna Egorova, who went 7 for 9 on her way to 17 points and three steals. Lamaiya Woodberry was another key player, going 6 of 9 en route to 16 points and three steals.

Alhambra dropped their record down to 3-14 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for McClintock, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 13-6.

Alhambra will host Fairfax at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Fairfax knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Alhambra likes a good challenge. As for McClintock, they will head out on the road to square off against Carl Hayden Community at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. McClintock is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.5 points per game this season.
