Baseball Recap: Cibola Gets the Win

While Cibola's win against Browne wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Cibola Raiders sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Browne Bruins on Thursday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Raiders also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2024.

Isaac Lopez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up six Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Aidan Robles was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while going 3-for-4. He is becoming a predictor of Cibola's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 2-4 when he doesn't). Jason Garcia also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Cibola now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Browne, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cibola will face off against Yuma at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Browne, they will head out to challenge Camelback at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Browne is facing Camelback at the right time seeing as Camelback is stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
