Basketball Recap: Clovis West Piles Up the Points Against Sheldon

Clovis West posted their biggest victory since December 11, 2024 on Friday. They breezed by the Sheldon Huskies to the tune of 69-41. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Golden Eagles also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.

Clovis West had a senior duo take command as Dj Stickman dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds and Michael Espinoza posted 14 points along with eight assists and six boards. Those eight assists gave Espinoza a new career-high. Spencer Kubit was another key player, putting up ten points.

Several Huskies players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Zion Johnson, who went 6 of 8 on his way to 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chadwick Johnson, who had ten points.

Clovis West is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-10 record this season. As for Sheldon, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season.

Clovis West will welcome St. Joseph at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Sheldon, they and Vanden will face off at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Sheldon is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.1 points per game this season.
