Basketball Recap: Yavneh Academy Drops Season-High Score on Burton Adventist Academy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Yavneh Academy). They took their game on Thursday with ease, bagging an 85-29 victory over the Burton Adventist Academy Angels. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 22 points or more this season.

Yavneh Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Darren Sacher led the charge by going 6 for 13 on his way to 13 points in addition to seven boards and seven steals. Sacher is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aeden Haviv, who went 7 of 9 on his way to 16 points and four steals.

Yavneh Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in five consecutive matchups.

Yavneh Academy is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.9 points per game. As for Burton Adventist Academy, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Yavneh Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 52-45 defeat against Faith Academy on the 14th. As for Burton Adventist Academy, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Yavneh Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 8, 2025. Yavneh Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
