Soccer Game Preview: Johnson vs. Thomson

The Johnson Panthers are taking a road trip to take on the Thomson Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Johnson will be coming into the match with an undefeated record on the line.

While Johnson's win against Laney wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Johnson narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Laney 2-1.

Saniya Mobley and Kayla Kalevela scored both of Johnson's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 20 goals.

Meanwhile, Thomson came tearing into Thursday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.7 goals), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 6-3 win. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by three goals or more this season.

Thomson's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Johnson, their win bumped their record up to 4-0.

Everything went Johnson's way against Thomson in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, as Johnson made off with a 6-3 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Johnson since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
