Softball Recap: Harrison Raiders vs. Lake Central Indians
Harrison extended their losing streak to seven on Friday, dropping their season record down to 3-8 in the process. They lost 14-5 to the Lake Central Indians. If the Raiders were looking for revenge after losing 10-0 to the Indians when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Anna Hainje made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Hannah Voll also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
As for Lake Central, they pushed their record up to 19-2 with the win, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games.
On Lake Central's side, Maddie Such looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Taylor Schafer was a standout: she got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last 12 games. Another player making a difference was Lexi Iwema, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple.
Harrison wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, an 8-0 defeat against Crown Point on the 3rd. As for Lake Central, they will challenge Lowell at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Red Devils will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something the Indians surely won't give up without a fight.
