Preview: Orcas Island Vikings vs. Friday Harbor Wolverines
Orcas Island and Friday Harbor are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2018, but not for long. The Orcas Island Vikings will head out on the road to face off against the Friday Harbor Wolverines at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
Orcas Island's 23-11 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They were the victim of a rough 65-44 loss at the hands of LaConner on Tuesday. Orcas Island has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite their defeat, Orcas Island saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Joe Stephens, who scored 12 points, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Romero Lago, who scored 9 points.
Meanwhile, Friday Harbor beat Bush 46-35 on Wednesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Friday Harbor.
Overlake's win bumped their season record to 0-0 while Orcas Island's loss dropped theirs to 1-1.
Everything went Orcas Island's way against Friday Harbor when the teams last played back in January as Orcas Island made off with a 74-50 win. Does Orcas Island have another victory up their sleeve, or will Friday Harbor turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
