Baseball Recap: Jackson Center Victorious

Jackson Center lost to Botkins back in April, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The Tigers narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Trojans 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Tigers have posted against the Trojans since April 21, 2022.

Preston Serr spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on 12 hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Jackson Center is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-9 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Blake Noble, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Kaiden Geuy also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

The win made it two in a row for Jackson Center and bumps their season record up to 6-9. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.5 runs across that stretch. As for Botkins, their loss dropped their record down to 7-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jackson Center will challenge Troy Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season. As for Botkins, they will take on Bradford at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
