Basketball Recap: Ashlyn Minniear's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Frontier over Rossville

Frontier and Rossville squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Frontier had to settle for second. They lost to the Rossville Hornets on the road by a 52-33 margin. The Falcons just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Frontier lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Ashlyn Minniear, who posted 13 points along with eight boards and three blocks. That was a full 39.4% of Frontier's points, marking the sixth time in a row she's had more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Madyson Mears, who earned four points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals.

Leading Rossville to victory were Ava Burkle and Allie Elliott. Burkle dropped a double-double with 14 points and 15 boards, while Elliott scored 13 points and seven rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Elliott a new career-high in field goal percentage (57%). Madilyn Seest also deserves some recognition as she scored her first points of the season.

Frontier's defeat dropped their record down to 2-20. As for Rossville, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-8.

Frontier does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Rossville, they have already played their next contest, a 43-38 loss against Carroll on the 8th.
