Basketball Recap: Desert Christian's Win on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Eight

You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Desert Christian on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew the St. Augustine Catholic Wolves out of the water with a 76-44 final score. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 20 points or more this season.

Tyson Dobbins continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 21 points and ten assists. He has been hot for a while, having posted 21 or more points the last 11 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Cooper Payne, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 11 points in addition to seven steals and six boards.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Desert Christian was working as a unit and finished the game with 24 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Despite the loss, St. Augustine Catholic saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Carlos Acuna went 12 of 25 on his way to 28 points along with eight boards and three steals.

The victory (which was Desert Christian's eighth in a row) raised their record to 18-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.8 points per game. As for St. Augustine Catholic, they dropped their record down to 4-10 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Desert Christian won't have much time to rest: their next game is against San Miguel at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Desert Christian is facing San Miguel at the right time seeing as San Miguel is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for St. Augustine Catholic, they will challenge Morenci at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
