Football Recap: Albertville Takes Down Ranked Opelika

Albertville faced Opelika in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Aggies were the clear victors by a 31-6 margin over the Bulldogs. The Aggies' win was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

A big part of Albertville's victory came down to the chemistry between Henley Kilpatrick and her top target Ella Brown. Kilpatrick threw for 119 yards and three touchdowns while completing 85.7% of her passes while Brown picked up 84 receiving yards and a pair of scores. The dominant performance also gave Kilpatrick a new career-high in rushing yards (nine).

Albertville's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB five times. The heavy lifting was done by Zoe Williams and Journey Williams, who racked up all five sacks between them. Zoe is crushing it when it comes to sacks: she's posted at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Brown got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Albertville's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Opelika, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Coincidentally, Albertville and Opelika will both be playing Montgomery Catholic the next time they take the field. The Bulldogs will head out to face the Knights at 10:15 a.m. on Saturday, while the Aggies will play them later in the day, at 11:30 a.m.
