Baseball Recap: Green Valley Has No Trouble Against Spring Valley

Green Valley won the last time they faced Spring Valley and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Gators were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over the Grizzlies. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Gators.

Green Valley got a great performance from Gavin Christensen as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over six innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave Christensen a new career-high.

At the plate, Caden Kirby was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Green Valley's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 9-1 (and 6-9 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Ferry, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Green Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Green Valley's win bumped their record up to 15-10. As for Spring Valley, they are on an 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-14-2.

Looking ahead, Green Valley will be playing in front of their home fans against Palo Verde at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Spring Valley, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, an 11-0 loss against Desert Oasis on the 17th.
