Preview: Shenandoah Valley Blue Devils vs. Schuylkill Haven Hurricanes
Shenandoah Valley has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Schuylkill Haven Hurricanes at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Shenandoah Valley will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 655th, while Schuylkill Haven is ranked 122nd).
Last Thursday, Shenandoah Valley had to suffer through a rough 58-21 loss at the hands of North Schuylkill. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Shenandoah Valley has scored all season.
Meanwhile, Schuylkill Haven came tearing into Wednesday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They snuck past Tamaqua with a 67-62 win. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Shenandoah Valley bumped their record down to 1-7 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Schuylkill Haven, their win bumped their record up to 8-1.
Shenandoah Valley lost to Schuylkill Haven on the road by a decisive 56-40 margin in their previous meeting back in January. Can Shenandoah Valley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
