Softball Recap: Edison Tigers vs. Sanger Apaches
Edison extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping them down to 7-15. They lost 10-0 to the Sanger Apaches. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Apaches this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-0 on April 9th.
As for Sanger, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games.
For Sanger's part, not much got past Emma Hernandez, who gave up just two hits and racked up six Ks to keep Edison off the board. Hernandez has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in nine consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Elissandra Reyna was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Carolyn Kelzer, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Edison is set to take on their familiar foe Sanger West at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Sanger will square off against rival Madera at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Apaches 3, the Coyotes 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
