Softball Recap: Riverview Sarasota Triumphs

Riverview Sarasota was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Bayshore on Friday. The Rams' pitchers stepped up to hand the Bruins a 15-0 shutout. Considering the Rams' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Reese Wilson looked comfortable as she pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

At the plate, Ava Febus was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. Brinly Dimon was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

Riverview Sarasota's victory bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Bayshore, their defeat was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Riverview Sarasota will host Charlotte at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Bayshore, they will be playing in front of their home fans against St. Petersburg at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bruins' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Green Devils have averaged an impressive 9.4 runs per game this season.
