Baseball Recap: Lawrence North Comes Up Short

Lawrence North was the 6-1 winner over Decatur Central when they last played one another back in May of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Wildcats fell 8-3 to the Hawks on Tuesday.

Quentin Harper was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in April.

On the hitting side, Lawrence North saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carson Maskel, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

Lawrence North's defeat dropped their record down to 12-8. As for Decatur Central, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-10 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lawrence North will host Pike at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Decatur Central, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Martinsville at 6:00 p.m. The Hawks are facing the Artesians at the right time seeing as the Artesians are stuck on a 12-game losing streak.
