Baseball Preview: Campbell County Camels vs. Ryle Raiders

Campbell County has been on the road for three straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Ryle Raiders at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams have allowed few runs on average, (Campbell County: 3.5, Ryle: 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Campbell County can now show off ten landslide victories after their most recent match on Thursday. Everything went their way against Highlands as Campbell County made off with an 11-3 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for Campbell County considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

Campbell County got a great performance from Zach Franzen as he struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits (and not a single walk). Franzen has been consistent recently: he hasn't pitched less than six innings in four consecutive pitching appearances.

On the hitting side, Will Haigis was incredible, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Parker Schweitzer, who scored a run while going 3-for-3.

Meanwhile, Ryle didn't have quite enough to beat St. Henry on Wednesday and fell 2-1.

Ryle also got a good showing from Maverick Rabe, who tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, Ryle saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sam Eppley, who went 1-for-3 with a triple and an RBI.

Campbell County's victory bumped their record up to 15-9. As for Ryle, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 20-9.
