Volleyball Recap: Hiawatha's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Hiawatha came into Monday's contest having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They had just enough and edged out the Westlake Christian Academy Eagles 2-1 on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Hawks have posted since October 26, 2024.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Hiawatha who won the one that mattered. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 21-25, 25-12.

Delaney Wood paced Hiawatha's offense, picking up 13 kills. Wood got some help from Mallory Banks and her 16 assists. Brielle Molloy controlled things from the service line, finishing with five aces.

The win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 3-12. As for Westlake Christian Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-7.

Looking ahead, Hiawatha will take on Polo in a tournament on Saturday. As for Westlake Christian Academy, they will welcome Mooseheart at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
