Recap: Morningside Monarchs vs. Hawthorne Cougars
The Morningside Monarchs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their 11th straight loss. They took a 58-43 bruising from Hawthorne. If Morningside hoped to take revenge for the 47-37 defeat against they when the teams met, then they were left disappointed.
Hawthorne got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Alfredo Ramirez out in front who scored 16 points. Jakobi Smith was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Morningside's loss was their tenth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-14. As for Hawthorne, their victory bumped their record up to 6-13.
Morningside will be playing in front of their home fans against Beverly Hills at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Beverly Hills presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Morningside in California (Beverly Hills is ranked 315th, while Morningside is ranked 1349th). As for Hawthorne, they will head out on the road to face off against Centennial at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
