Baseball Recap: Alamogordo Comes Up Short

Alamogordo was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Centennial Hawks. If the Tigers were looking for revenge after losing 17-3 to the Hawks when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Aric Vazquez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

Alamogordo's defeat dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Centennial, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.

While Alamogordo had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
