Baseball Recap: Alonso Comes Up Short

Alonso had lost three straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped down to 11-11 to make it four. They took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wharton Wildcats. The Ravens were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2025.

Joshua Abrahante was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run was his first of the season.

As for Wharton, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 14-7-1 record. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

On Wharton's side, the team relied heavily on Tomas Rivera, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremiah Brown, who went 3-for-4 with two runs.

Alonso and Wharton are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Ravens will face off against Plant City at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Raiders' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Alonso's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Wharton, they will challenge East Bay at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
