Basketball Game Preview: Union Grove Christian Patriots vs. Faith Christian Eagles

Union Grove Christian and Faith Christian are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2018, but not for long. The Union Grove Christian Patriots will welcome the Faith Christian Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Tuesday, Union Grove Christian really took it to Cramerton Christian Academy for the full four quarters, racking up a 69-35 victory. With the Patriots ahead 47-21 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Colin Wykes continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 9 of 13 en route to 26 points and six assists. The matchup was his seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Calvin Miller, who posted 12 points.

Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Faith Christian ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They snuck past Vandalia Christian with a 63-59 win. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 291st, while the Vikings are ranked 609th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Faith Christian is also on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.3 points per game. As for Union Grove Christian, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-4.

Union Grove Christian and Faith Christian were neck-and-neck in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, but Union Grove Christian came up empty-handed after a 45-44 loss.
