Baseball Recap: Brighton Triumphs

In Monday's Canine Competition, Brighton prevailed. They walked away with a 10-5 win over the Westminster Wolves on Monday. The Bulldogs have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Wolves, too.

Teagan Reininger tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, Austin Sickler and Hesston Edens did most of the damage at the plate: Sickler went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double, while Edens went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Lucas Fiedler, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Brighton's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Westminster, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Brighton will venture away from home to square off against Fossil Ridge at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Westminster, they will head out to face off against Rangeview at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
