Softball Game Preview: Homer Mariners vs. Kodiak Bears

For the second straight game, Homer will face off against Kodiak. The Mariners are taking a road trip to square off against the Bears at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Homer has given up an average of 10.3 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Homer is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Alaska's top teams: Kodiak, who was ranked ninth at the time (Homer was ranked 17th). The Mariners lost 14-2 to the Bears on Friday. That's two games in a row now that the Mariners have lost by exactly 12 runs.

Homer saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Almalinda Norman, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Kodiak now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Homer, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-11-1.
