The Southwestern Rebels will head out to square off against the Milan Indians at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Southwestern will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Monday, then bounced right back against South Decatur on Tuesday. The Rebels were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Cougars. The win continues a trend for the Rebels in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won four in a row.

Chloey Leach made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Riley Crawford was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That stolen base was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Rorie Scroggins, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
Southwestern hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Decatur struck out seven times.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Milan). They never let Jac-Cen-Del get on the board and left with a 19-0 victory on Monday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Indians.
The team relied heavily on Kynadee Bode, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Mallory Eaglin, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.
Southwestern's record now sits at 6-2. As for Milan, their record is now 12-6.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Southwestern hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .383. However, it's not like Milan struggles in that department as they've averaged .345. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Southwestern suffered a grim 7-1 defeat to Milan in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Rebels avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
