Baseball Recap: Santa Fe Comes Up Short

Santa Fe lost against La Porte back in March, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Indians fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 4-2. The Indians have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Trenton Lewis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Ronald Rouse made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Santa Fe's loss dropped their record down to 13-9. As for La Porte, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-10 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Santa Fe is set to face off against their familiar foe Friendswood at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Indians 3.5, the Mustangs 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, La Porte will take on rival Angleton at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
