Soccer Game Preview: Scholars Guild Academy vs. Lanier Christian Academy

The Scholars Guild Academy Spartans will square off against the Lanier Christian Academy Lightning at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Scholars Guild Academy has given up an average of 5.8 goals per game this season, so hopefully the team got some defensive drills in this week.

Scholars Guild Academy is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to ten goals on Thursday, they were much more limited against Fideles Christian on Friday. They lost 7-0 to the Rangers. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 270th, while the Rangers are ranked 67th).

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last matchup, Lanier Christian Academy made sure to put some goals up on the board against Horizon Christian Academy on Tuesday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Warriors an 8-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Lightning, who have now won three contests by eight goals or more so far this season.

Scholars Guild Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Lanier Christian Academy, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
