Softball Recap: Chavez Starts off Right with Win over Modesto

Chavez gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out the Modesto Panthers 13-12.

Natalia Dias made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and eight unearned) runs off nine hits. Dias was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and one triple. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in RBI.

In other batting news, Kimora Bell was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two triples, three RBI, and two runs. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. Natally Sanchez was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Chavez has already played their next contest, a 15-5 win against Downey on the 18th. As for Modesto, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 17-0 loss against Hughson on the 17th.
