Basketball Game Preview: Tremont Eagles vs. Brilliant Tigers

Tremont is on a four-game streak of home losses, Brilliant a ten-game streak of away losses dating back to last season, but someone's luck will change on Monday. The Tremont Eagles will welcome the Brilliant Tigers at 7:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Tremont is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Colbert Heights on Saturday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Tremont came up short against Colbert Heights, falling 54-34.

Tremont's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Andrew Curtis, who posted 12 points, and Cooper Platt, who put up six points. Curtis is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played.

Meanwhile, Brilliant scored the most points they've had this season on Thursday, but it wasn't enough. They took a blow against Hubbertville, falling 82-42. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 404th, while the Lions are ranked 134th).

Tremont's defeat dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Brilliant, their loss dropped their record down to 0-7.

Tremont was able to grind out a solid victory over Brilliant when the teams last played back in January, winning 40-28. Will Tremont repeat their success, or does Brilliant have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
