Basketball Recap: North Tampa Christian Academy Takes a Loss

North Tampa Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were beaten by the Gateway Panthers 63-26. The matchup marked the Titans' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Gateway got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ashlynn Day out in front who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 boards. Day is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least five every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Marino, who went 7 of 14 en route to 22 points along with seven assists and four steals.

North Tampa Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Gateway, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 10-2.

North Tampa Christian Academy will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Seven Rivers Christian at 6:00 p.m. on January 9, 2025. Gateway will also get a bit of a break before their next game: they'll face off against Hagerty at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Gateway knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 12 contests -- so hopefully Hagerty likes a good challenge.
