Baseball Recap: Desert Mountain Snaps Six-Game Streak of Losses at Home

Desert Mountain had lost six games at home, but after bumping their record up to 12-14 on Thursday that streak is in the rearview. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Campo Verde Coyotes 6-4. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 8-5 on Tuesday.

Zach Durben was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in ten consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Riyan Patel was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Everett Hagen was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one double.

As for Campo Verde, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-12 record this season. They just can't catch a break and have now endured four losses in a row.

On Campo Verde's side, Wyatt Rauch was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Luke Girard, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Desert Mountain will head out to challenge Horizon at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The last five games the Huskies have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Campo Verde, they will head out on the road to take on Notre Dame Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Saints will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Coyotes surely won't give up without a fight.
