Baseball Preview: Saguaro Sabercats vs. Arcadia Titans
The Saguaro Sabercats will head out on the road to challenge the Arcadia Titans at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Saguaro is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
On Friday, Saguaro came up short against Crismon and fell 8-4. That's two games in a row now that the Sabercats have lost by exactly four runs.
Saguaro saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kyle Miiller, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Jake Claver also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Meanwhile, Arcadia was able to grind out a solid victory over Goldwater on Friday, taking the game 8-5.
LJ Donahue and Hank Jensen did most of the damage at the plate: Donahue went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double, while Jensen scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-4. That's the most hits Donahue has posted since back in February. Carlo Valdez-Tavera was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Arcadia was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Goldwater only posted a batting average of .125.
Arcadia's win ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-12. As for Saguaro, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-9-1.
Saguaro took their victory against Arcadia in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 12-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Sabercats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
