Anderson extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 10-11 in the process. They fell 7-3 to the Kokomo Wildkats. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Indians of the 11-7 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2022.
Anderson saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nehemiah Burns, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI. Steven Reyes was another, going 1-for-3 with two runs.
As for Kokomo, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 15 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games.
On Kokomo's side, Eli Roe made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Roe has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
In other pitching news, Isaac Flamino tossed a big game, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on J.J. Gillespie, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Jonathon Frye, who went 3-for-4 with one run.
Anderson didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 4-3 win against Madison-Grant on the 19th. As for Kokomo, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 13-0 loss against Lapel on the 17th.
