Johnathon Byaus leads a balanced attack to beat Shadow Mountain

Recap: Combs Coyotes vs. Shadow Mountain Matadors

The Combs Coyotes have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 22 points or more this season. They put the hurt on Shadow Mountain with a sharp 70-47 win on Monday. The win was nothing new for Combs as they're now sitting on three straight.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Combs to victory, but perhaps none more so than Johnathon Byaus, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. The match was Byaus' third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Logan Tuckfield, who scored 18 points.

Shadow Mountain's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Pierce Rogers, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds. Rogers set a new season high mark in steals with three. The team also got some help courtesy of Cory Lamb-Jones, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Even though they lost, Shadow Mountain were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Combs' victory bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Shadow Mountain, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-6.

Combs won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Marcos de Niza at 7:00 p.m. on December 12th. Hopefully Marcos de Niza focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Monday. As for Shadow Mountain, they will be playing at home against Arizona College Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Arizona College Prep presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Shadow Mountain in Arizona (Arizona College Prep is ranked 82nd, while Shadow Mountain is ranked 280th).
