Mize took a eight-run loss the last time they faced off against South Jones, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Mize Bulldogs sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the South Jones Braves on Saturday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Bulldogs as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Mize's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was AK Easterling, who went 2-for-3 with one triple.

Mize's victory bumped their record up to 9-5. As for South Jones, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season.

Mize and South Jones should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings. Mize will face off against Taylorsville at 6:30 p.m. on Monday up 94 places (50 vs. 144). Mize is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season. Meanwhile, South Jones (ranked 31st) will meet West Jones (ranked 108th) at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
