Basketball Recap: Maxwell Skates Past South Loup with Ease

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Maywood/Hayes Center, Maxwell was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They claimed a resounding 63-27 win over South Loup. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matchups by 22 points or more this season.

Leading Maxwell to victory were Kristyn Cheek and Jenna Miller. Cheek almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine boards, while Miller posted 16 points in addition to seven steals and six rebounds. Those seven steals gave Miller a new career-high. Illa Gosnell was another key player, putting up six points and three steals.

Maxwell was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

With the victory, Maxwell broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-7. As for South Loup, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-10.

Maxwell wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 46-39 defeat against Cambridge on the 18th. As for South Loup, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 51-39 loss against Brady on the 18th.
