Baseball Recap: Durango Finds Playoff Glory Versus Summit

It's playoff time, and Durango had no trouble coming through when it counted. They walked away with a 15-12 win over the Summit Tigers on Saturday. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Demons' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Dawson McInnes made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. McInnes was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-6 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Sam Clark tossed a big game, pitching 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Dylan Burns, who went 5-for-6 with five runs, two stolen bases, and two doubles. Those five runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Clark, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs.

Durango was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Summit only posted a batting average of .231.

Durango's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 14-8. As for Summit, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 17-7.

Durango didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 13-8 win against Lewis-Palmer on the 17th. Summit does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
