Basketball Recap: Firestone Comes Up Short

Firestone lost against Garfield Community Learning Center back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Firestone Falcons had to suffer through a 79-43 loss at the hands of the Garfield Community Learning Center Golden Rams. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 664th, while the Golden Rams are ranked 193rd).

It was another big night for Rayshawn Hamilton, who went 10 for 20 en route to 27 points in addition to eight boards and six steals for Garfield Community Learning Center. The matchup was Hamilton's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Isaiah Mathews was another key player, putting up six points and five steals.

Firestone's defeat was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-14. As for Garfield Community Learning Center, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-4.

Firestone didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 69-38 victory against North on the 30th. Garfield Community Learning Center has also already played their next game, a 72-66 loss against Buchtel on the 31st.
