Baseball Recap: Cliffside Park Takes a Loss

Cliffside Park had lost three straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped down to 7-8 to make it four. They fell just short of the Ridgefield Park Scarlets by a score of 1-0. The game marked the first time this year in which the Red Raiders were not able to get on the board.

As for Ridgefield Park, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 14-5. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games.

For Ridgefield Park's part, the result came thanks to Andrew Garcia's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up 11 Ks. Garcia has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Ridgefield Park saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jay Mejia, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

While Cliffside Park had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
