Baseball Recap: Upper Scioto Valley Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Upper Scioto Valley had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 13-run drubbing they dealt Cory-Rawson on Saturday. The Rams blew past the Fighting Hornets 22-9. With that victory, the Rams brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.

Wyatt Davis and Mason Thompson did most of the damage at the plate: Davis got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, five runs, and two RBI, while Thompson went 3-for-4 with six RBI, three runs, and one stolen base. Upper Scioto Valley is undefeated when Thompson posts two or more runs, but 4-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Beau Sanders, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.

Upper Scioto Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .643. They are 4-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The win (which was Upper Scioto Valley's fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Cory-Rawson, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-14.

Coming up, Upper Scioto Valley will welcome Ada at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Cory-Rawson, they will venture away from home to square off against Temple Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
