Football Recap: Monsignor Pace Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Monsignor Pace and Cardinal Gibbons squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Monsignor Pace had to settle for second. They came up short against the Chiefs, falling 48-28. The Spartans were not able to make up for their loss to the Chiefs from their previous meeting back in October of 2020.

When it comes to explaining why Monsignor Pace lost, don't look at Jordan Fernandez. Despite the final result, he threw for 221 yards and three touchdowns. The Spartans also got a significant boost from Isaiah Thurston, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 81 yards.

Cardinal Gibbons' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jayden Torres, who threw for 311 yards and three TDs while completing 76.2% of his passes, and also rushed for 31 yards. The dominant performance also gave Torres a new career-high in passer rating (157.2). Donte Findeson was another key player, rushing for 101 yards and a pair of scores on only seven carries.

Monsignor Pace has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for Cardinal Gibbons, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-3.

Monsignor Pace does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Cardinal Gibbons, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Killian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Chiefs will need to watch out since the Cougars have now posted at least 31 points in their last five matchups.
