Softball Recap: River View Makes It Eight in a Row on the Road

River View waltzed into their game on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Mabton Vikings a 21-0 shutout. Surprisingly, this marked the Panthers' fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Bryanna Denbow made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, River View got a massive performance out of Danika Koch, who fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-3. Lauren Overstreet was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.

River View was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .688. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .410 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

River View pushed their record up to 14-1 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Mabton, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: River View beat the Vikings by a score of 19-0 later that day.
