Basketball Game Preview: Bloomington Central Catholic Saints vs. Maroa-Forsyth Trojans

The Bloomington Central Catholic Saints will challenge the Maroa-Forsyth Trojans at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

On Thursday, Bloomington Central Catholic made easy work of St. Joseph-Ogden and carried off a 57-35 win. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 30-8.

Emme Hurie continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 5 for 8 en route to 14 points in addition to seven assists and seven rebounds. That's the most assists she has posted since back in December of 2024. Karissa Cook was another key player, going 5 of 9 on her way to 10 points and six boards.

Bloomington Central Catholic smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in eight consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Maroa-Forsyth took their contest on Thursday with ease, bagging a 60-33 victory over Illini Central/Greenview. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 117th, while Illini Central/Greenview are ranked 395th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Bloomington Central Catholic is also on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 29.3 points. As for Maroa-Forsyth, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 20-3.
