Baseball Recap: Gladewater Has No Trouble Against Overton

Gladewater won the last time they faced Overton and things went their way on Thursday too. The Gladewater Bears blew past the Overton Mustangs 15-4.

Mason Budro and Luke Brown made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Budro struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Brown tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance gave Budro a new career-low in hits. At bat, Budro scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-5, while Brown got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and one triple. That's the most runs Brown has posted since back in February of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Landen King, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Alex Villalpando was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

The victory got Gladewater back to even at 1-1.

Looking ahead, Gladewater will square off against Winona at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Overton, they will challenge Douglass at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
