Basketball Game Preview: Maxwell Panthers vs. Williams Yellowjackets

Maxwell hasn't had much luck against Williams recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Maxwell Panthers will take on the Williams Yellowjackets at 6:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Last Tuesday, Maxwell came up short against Hamilton and fell 42-31.

Despite the loss, Maxwell had strong showings from Tanner Vierra, who posted six points in addition to six steals and five boards, and Macklin Kuska, who earned two points along with ten rebounds and three blocks. Kuska is becoming a predictor of Maxwell's success: when he posts at least eight rebounds the team is undefeated (and 1-3 when he doesn't).

Meanwhile, Williams ended up a good deal behind Portola on Tuesday and lost 64-45.

Diego Ambriz was Williams' leading scorer, having posted six points.

Williams' defeat was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Maxwell, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-3.

Maxwell skirted past Williams 54-52 in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Does Maxwell have another victory up their sleeve, or will Williams turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
