Baseball Game Preview: Garden City Buffaloes vs. Dodge City Demons

Garden City hasn't had much luck against Dodge City recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Buffaloes will head out to take on the Demons at 4:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Garden City couldn't beat Liberal on Tuesday even though they stacked five runs on them in the first inning. The Buffaloes fell just short of the Redskins by a score of 9-8. While the Buffaloes didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Redskins 5-1 in the first period.

Jonathan Almanza and Culden Plankenhorn did some serious damage despite the final result: Almanza went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while Plankenhorn got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Gio Benitez also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, Dodge City was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against Blue Valley West, falling 15-0.

This is the second loss in a row for Garden City and nudges their season record down to 4-8. As for Dodge City, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-9.

Garden City suffered a grim 12-6 defeat to Dodge City in their previous matchup on April 8th. Can the Buffaloes avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
