Baseball Recap: Amador Valley's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Amador Valley walked away with it. They won by a run and slipped past the McKinleyville Panthers 2-1. The win was some much needed relief for the Dons as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Brennan Baptist spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on seven hits. Amador Valley is undefeated when Baptist allows one or fewer earned runs, but 8-11 otherwise.

At the plate, Gavin Colombo was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Amador Valley's victory bumped their record up to 14-11. As for McKinleyville, they moved to 21-7 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Amador Valley will face off against Cardinal Newman on Saturday. The Cardinals will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something the Dons surely won't give up without a fight. McKinleyville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
