Marietta and Harrison squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Marietta had to settle for second. They took a 45-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hoyas. The matchup was a 21-21 toss-up at halftime, but the Blue Devils couldn't quite close it out.

Despite the defeat, Marietta had strong showings from Titus Grant, who rushed for 123 yards and three scores, and Jayden Whiteside, who threw for 304 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Grant is becoming a predictor of the Blue Devils' success: when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns the team is 4-1 (and 1-5 when he doesn't). 80 of Whiteside's passing yards were hauled in by Isaac Copeland.

Marietta's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-6. As for Harrison, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 10-1.
Marietta does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Harrison, they will challenge Carrollton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Hoyas will need to watch out since the Trojans have now posted at least 31 points in their last seven games.
