Baseball Game Preview: Chatham Central Bears vs. Northwood Chargers

For the second straight game, Chatham Central will face off against Northwood. The Bears will venture away from home to square off against the Chargers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Chatham Central took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Northwood, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Bears came out on top in a nail-biter against the Chargers on Tuesday, sneaking past 9-7.

Benjamin Wilson made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed 4.1 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March.

Wilson wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Brady Phillips, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Phillips a new career-high in RBI (two).

Chatham Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Northwood's defeat dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Chatham Central, their record now sits at 6-12.
